Your Deposit Makes You Different

If you haven’t already, I’d encourage you to go back and take a look at my last blog post, Destroyed for Being Different, because I want to take another look at those same two scriptures. Again, the verses are Esther 3:8-9. They read:

“Then Haman approached King Xerxes and said, “There is a certain race of people scattered through all the provinces of your empire who keep themselves separate from everyone else. Their laws are different from those of any other people, and they refuse to obey the laws of the king. So it is not in the king’s interest to let them live. If it please the king, issue a decree that they be destroyed, and I will give 10,000 large sacks of silver to the government administrators to be deposited in the royal treasury.” (emphasis mine)

Because the Jews were different, Haman wanted to issue a decree to have them destroyed and was even willing to make a deposit to ensure it was done. When the world shares news like this with us, it’s easy to get discouraged. Sometimes we need to take a break from watching the news and focus on The Good News; because wherever there is doom and gloom in the world, there is always goodness and mercy in the Word.

The world may not like that you’re different, but Romans 12:6a tells us, “In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.” That tells me God likes different.

The world may decree devastation, but Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the Lord’s decree will prevail.” That tells me it doesn’t matter what other people say about me being different. The only thing that matters is what God says.

The world may try to destroy us, but James 4:12a informs us, “There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and destroy.” That tells me I have nothing to fear. I can be as different as God created me to be and not be afraid.

The world may try to deposit negativity into your life, but 2 Corinthians 5:5 says, “Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” That tells me I’m different on purpose and it’s my Deposit that makes me different!
